Hulu is now open to the public! It has full-length TV shows and movies as well as some SNL shorts and stuff, both new and classic shows. It's pretty amazing if you ask me, and it's free and legal--no extra software required. I've been using it for months now and it's the best TV streaming site available, bar none. Anyway, you should check it out.

This person, who supposedly "represents" the district that the University of Chicago occupies, decided to remove one of the most useful bus stops on campus because she was not consulted when the University asked the CTA (which complied) to move the stop from one corner to another of the same intersection. There has been no loss of parking, and this move was also requested by the property holders of the land where the stop used to be (a church). Now the stop borders University property and everyone is happy. No parking situation has been made worse, since the three or so spots lost with the new space are now free across the street. Leslie Hairston just got angered because she wasn't asked for her blessing to move the CTA stop. She even says that she would have no problem with it and that the only reason she's having it removed is out of spite of the University for undermining her authoriTAY! What an *******. There are no residences in that area and street parking is not a problem in Hyde Park. Anyway, with government representatives as evil and vindictive as this, I'm glad that the University finds ways to circumvent them. Ms. Hairston and her petty revenge-seeking are going to make life more annoying for a lot of students here. I guess she's not too worried because, unfortunately, most of the U of C students that she's hurting don't vote in Chicago and none of the permanent residents (besides people associated with the University) care because the location in question is in the middle of campus and not relevant at all to their daily lives.
I feel like I should also add that the route in question (171) exists solely because of the U of C and is financed by the U of C. In other words, this bus route is supposed to serve the U of C. That is its purpose, and I would estimate that upwards of 90% of the traffic on the route is directly related to the U of C.
Good morning, Worm your honor. The crown will plainly show The prisoner who now stands before you Was caught red-handed showing feelings, Showing feelings of an almost human nature. This will not do. Call the schoolmaster!
I always said he'd come to no good In the end your honor. If they'd let me have my way I could Have flayed him into shape. But my hands were tied, The bleeding hearts and artists Let him get away with murder. Let me hammer him today?

I never knew there were so many different ways that people counted their money. I guess it's just one of those things that I've always taken for granted. It's also neat to see how adjacent regions areas have more similar methods than those further away.

Atheist Sees Image of Big Bang in Piece of Toast
(ACPA-london) Excitement is growing in the Northern England town of Huddlesfield following the news that a local man saw an image of the big-bang in a piece of toast. atheist donald chapman, 36, told local newspaper, "the huddlesfield express" that he was sitting down to eat breakfast when an unusual toast pattern caught his eye. "I was just about to spread the butter when I noticed a fairly typical small hole in the bread surrounded by a burnt black ring. however the direction and splatter patterns of the crumbs as well as the changing shades emanating outwards from this black hole were very clearly similar to the chaotic-dynamic non-linear patterns that one would expect following the big bang". "It's the beginning of the world" he added excitedly.

Four months into her pregnancy, Lorraine Allard was devastated to learn she was in the advanced stages of cancer.
Doctors advised her to have an abortion and start chemotherapy straight away.
Instead, with steadfast courage, she insisted on waiting long enough to give her unborn son a chance to survive, telling her husband Martyn: "If I am going to die, my baby is going to live."

If you've ever, like me, been applying for jobs and needed to email a person whose first name is unfamiliar to you, thus not knowing his or her gender and whether to address the email to "Mr." or "Ms.", then I have a website for you: http://www.gpeters.com/names/baby-names.php
I tested it on a few familiar names and it seemed accurate, so we'll see. Anyway, I hope it's helpful ;)

2:30 pm - Disaster Strikes :(
|
I was just reaching into the refrigerator to grab my very last Vernor's Ginger Ale (the best Ginger Ale ever made) and the most horrible thing that could possibly have occurred happened. As I was nearing exit, the can struck a lip on the edge of the fridge's shelf, knocking the can from my dainty grasp. I fumbled awkwardly towards the falling can while holding the refrigerator door open with my other hand unaware of the coming doom. Suddenly, the can struck the bottom of the refrigerator with great force, puncturing the thin outer layer of aluminum that was the only thing separating this virginal creation (that tastes slightly of vanilla) from the sullied world around it. From the puncture erupted a ghastly hissing spray which enveloped me and the entire kitchen area as the can rolled around in its death throes. Unfortunately, most of the precious soda was lost. Some ended up on my face or body, leaving me with the sweet, sticky smell of ginger. Some ended up in other areas which have yet to be cleaned. But, alas, only a small portion eventually did end up in my mouth. Sweet victory has eluded me once more.

The Macbook Air is almost amazing enough for me to want to buy one: http://www.apple.com/macbookair/#ad
The problem with it is that it doesn't have a PCMCIA/ExpressCard slot or an ethernet jack. It also only has one USB port and doesn't have a user-replaceable battery.
...or a second mouse button, dammit!
But it is one sexy computer.

So, I was standing in a subway station wearing my Jefferson letter jacket and waiting for a train. A man walks by, glances at my jacket, and casually asks "George Washington?" At first I was a bit surprised, I said, "Excuse me?" He asked if I went to George Washington (University). By then I had caught on and told him that, no, this was my high school letter jacket. Then he said, "Oh, I just saw the 'J' and thought George..." and lightly chuckled as he walked away.
